On April 21-22, Trillium Herbal Company participated in the Co-op America Sustainability Conference, and Green Festival at McCormick Place in Chicago. Earth Day will be marked not only by the sharing of our incredible products at the show, Karen Ciesar, founder of Trillium will be speaking at the Green Festival about entrepreneurial opportunities in the green world. The talk will begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday April 21. January 22, 2007. Our founder's birthday, OCIA, Organic Crop Improvement Association approved The Organic Certification of Trillium's workshop and all of it's products. We are once again certified by a third party that we do it right, as we have been since the 1994. |
Karen Ciesar writes, "In early January, a letter arrived at our office. I calmly read it with my other mail until I crossed the words,... "The Harvard Medical School Center for Global Environment and Health has great respect for the vision and philosophy of Trillium Organics". Astonished, I dropped into my chair. "WOW!' I thought, "They get it! They see what we are doing! They really like us!!" I take it all so personally, because, for me, it is personal. Trillium's mission has always been focused on our first duty as humans to "do no harm", and our obligation as Americans not to take our freedom to create entrepreneurial abundance for granted. In other words, leave no waste or destruction behind, and make darn sure you make a good valuable product. As a child of two entrepreneurs I have always had an acute sense of how much the values of business create the world in which we live. Trillium is my personal expression, started 13 years ago of what an ethical, earth conscious business can be, and every day we try to be more and do more. I started Trillium as a young mother, with a mission to leave a better world for my child than the one I inherited. Now I have two children, and our products are still organic, hand blended, hand blessed, hand filled, and hand packaged. We were being asked to contribute a green gift for the attendees of the tenth annual gala dinner where Al Gore and Meryl Streep would be presenting the Award to HRH Prince Charles himself!! Sure, it was one of many requests for free product samples, but this one was manifestly different. This one matters more than the samples given to Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz at Sundance Film Festival in 2006. Much more! My resourceful team and I crafted an organic travel kit as a gift for each attendee at the affair, out of retired tins, retired labels, recycled paper and sample packets. We were present at the Center's 10th anniversary Gala Dinner in spirit and support. I am sure most of you have already seen Al Gore's film. Some of you may have seen Prince Charles' film on the environment. All of us can agree that taking steps to save our planet from the global warming is worthy. Some of my Green friends consider it, as I do, the most worthy and pressing concern of our time. If you have a moment, read the speech that HRH Prince Charles gave to accept the award. His perspective is insightful and personal. It's well worthy of your time and attention. The quality and integrity of the sponsors was immense and intense. The spirit of eco- operation and compassion for the planet was remarkable. The predominant remark from visitors was how earnest and grounded all of the presenters Efren Ramirez (Vote for Pedro-Napoleon Dynamite) deeply indulged in a spa experience that engaged three gorgeous massage therapists in hand, foot and neck massage for over an hour. Efren preferred the Cedar Sage blend from Trillium most of all. Sam Shepard slipped in for a deep tissue massage from Rafael Kalichstein, (a.k.a magic fingers). Organic Shea Butters were given to every star who visited the spa, whether they lingered for bodywork, joined the daily Yoga class, ( provided by Julia of Yogaworks, LA) or enjoyed a cup of Zhena’s Gypsy Tea. Polish was featured in a hostess gift given at the Alpha Dog private dinner party, where Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, and Sharon Stone were in attendance.
